Motorcycle Rain Gear for Bikers

Rain does not have to end your riding. With the right rain gear for bikers, a wet ride is manageable, and the monsoon can turn out to be one of the best seasons to be on the road.

This page collects the motorcycle rain gear we stock for Indian monsoons: rain jackets, rain pants, waterproof gloves, waterproof riding boots, shoe covers, rain liners and waterproof socks. All products are original and come with the manufacturer's warranty.

No single piece keeps you completely dry, so the best results come from building a setup that covers your jacket, legs, hands and feet. The sections below show how.

How to choose motorcycle rain gear

Rain jacket or rain suit

A motorcycle rain jacket is an overjacket that you wear on top of your riding jacket. It packs small, costs far less than a new jacket, and goes on in under a minute when the sky opens up. Add rain pants and the two pieces work together as a rain suit.

Pick a size that fits comfortably over your armoured jacket, with enough room at the shoulders and elbows to move freely. If you want one jacket that handles rain on its own, look at our range of waterproof riding jackets and read waterproof riding gear decoded to see how the two approaches compare.

Rain pants

Your legs and lap collect more water than almost anywhere else on the bike. Rain pants slip over your riding pants or jeans and stop water running down into your boots. Look for ankle openings wide enough to pull on over your boots.

Waterproof gloves and boots

Cold, wet hands lose grip quickly, so waterproof gloves are worth the spend. For your feet, choose waterproof riding boots, or add shoe covers over the boots you already own. Our riding gloves and riding boots categories have more options, and the guides on choosing riding gloves and choosing riding boots explain what to look for.

Liners and socks

A waterproof liner inside (or outside) a jacket or a pair of waterproof socks is a light, budget friendly upgrade when your existing gear is nearly waterproof but not quite.

Ride and care tips

Good gear works best with good habits. Read top tips for riding a motorcycle in the rain before your next wet ride and what to wear while riding in the rain for layering advice. Your bike needs attention too, so see how to keep your bike safe in the rainy season. After the ride, rinse your gear and let it dry naturally. Our jacket cleaning guide has more on looking after it.

Frequently asked questions

Q1: What is the best rain gear for riding a motorcycle in India?

A1: A rain overjacket, rain pants, waterproof gloves and waterproof boots or shoe covers give you the most complete protection at a sensible cost. The overjacket and pants go over your normal riding gear, so you stay protected by your armour while staying dry.

Q2: What is the difference between a motorcycle rain jacket and a waterproof riding jacket?

A2: A rain jacket is a lightweight outer layer you wear over your riding jacket and take off after the rain. A waterproof riding jacket has a waterproof membrane built in, so it works on its own. If you want that, see our riding jackets category, and read waterproof riding gear decoded to decide which suits you.

Q3: Do I still need a rain suit if my riding jacket is waterproof?

A3: In heavy or long rain, usually yes. Collars, zips and seams are common entry points, and riding pants tend to let water in around the lap. A rain jacket and rain pants over your gear close those gaps. what to wear while riding in the rain explains why no riding gear stays fully dry.

Q4: Will a rain jacket fit over my riding jacket?

A4: It will if you choose the right size. Try it over your armoured jacket, not a t-shirt, and check that you can reach the handlebars and turn your head freely. When in doubt between two sizes, go for the larger one.

Q5: How do I keep my hands and feet dry while riding?

A5: Use waterproof gloves for your hands and waterproof riding boots for your feet. If you already own boots you like, shoe covers are a cheaper way to keep water out. You can compare more options in our riding gloves and riding boots categories.

Q6: How do I look after my rain gear?

A6: Rinse off mud and road grime, hang it to dry away from direct sun and keep it folded loosely. Avoid harsh detergents unless the label allows them. Our jacket cleaning guide covers the basics.

Q7: Is it safe to ride in heavy rain?

A7: Good gear keeps you comfortable and visible, but your riding matters just as much. Slow down, leave extra braking distance and avoid painted lines and metal covers.
