Details

The SMK Retro Jet Seven in gloss is for riders who want their helmet to be noticed. It has the vintage jet shape, a shiny shell and the comfort of a real leather cushion.

It is a modern take on a timeless design, from SMK's Retro Jet series. The same helmet with a flat finish is the matt Seven, and you can see the range on our SMK open face helmets page.

SEVEN is spelled out on the side next to a large number 7, while a wide band circles the visor pivot and a stripe runs across the brow. It looks like a racing number on a classic.

Who it suits

Add the multi colour side plates and change the visor with the tool in the box, and one helmet can look quite different from day to day.

Some helmets disappear into the background. This one is meant to be seen, which is why the glossy shell and the leather trimmed interior feel like a package.

Main features

  • Neck roll for comfort at the back of the helmet
  • Visor and side plates come off, so you can ride with goggles
  • Real leather cushion that adds richness and comfort
  • Visor that is long and wide, so the road stays in sight
  • Removable, washable liner that breathes and manages moisture
  • Visor and side plates can be changed with the tool that comes with the helmet
  • Top vents for airflow
  • Two shell sizes made from energy impact resistant thermoplastic (EIRT)

Getting the fit right

Not sure of your size? Measure your head one inch above your eyebrows and compare it with the chart above. A helmet on the M shell (S and M) weighs about 1,450 g, and one on the L shell (L, XL, XXL) about 1,550 g, within 50 g. Our helmet fitting guide shows what a good fit feels like.

Approvals

The helmet is certified to ISI, DOT and ECE 22.06. ISI is the standard Indian law asks for, DOT is the US standard and ECE 22.06 is the newest European one. Check the label inside when it arrives. It is an open face helmet, so your jaw is uncovered, and it suits city and relaxed riding better than fast highway runs.

Cleaning and care

Skip kitchen sponges and strong cleaners, which dull a glossy finish. A soft damp cloth does the job, and the liner can be hand washed. Read our helmet maintenance guide for the full routine.

Warranty

The helmet comes with a one year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently asked questions

Q1: Is this a half face or an open face helmet?

A1: Open face. Riders often say half face for this style, but the helmet covers the ears and has no chin bar.

Q2: How do I swap the visor and side plates?

A2: Use the tool supplied in the box. No workshop visit is needed.

Q3: What is the difference between the gloss and matt versions?

A3: Only the finish. The shell, features and certifications are the same, so choose the look you like.

Q4: Is the liner removable?

A4: Yes, it comes out for washing. Use mild soap and let it dry away from direct sun.

Q5: Is it only for retro bikes?

A5: No. The shape looks classic, but it works on any bike or scooter used for relaxed riding.
