Axor Open Face Helmets

Axor open face helmets give you the old school shape with modern safety testing. They are built for city streets, scooters, cruisers and cafe racers, and every helmet in this range is certified for road use in India.

The Axor Retro Jet series is the best known, with leather trims, peaks and bubble visors in a vintage jet shape. The Kylo series is the modern alternative, with a built in spoiler and a dual visor system. You will also find carbon fibre helmets and a few designed for women riders.

Every helmet carries a one year warranty against manufacturing defects, and the size chart further down helps you get the fit right first time.

How to choose an Axor open face helmet

Start with the front of the helmet. A peak gives shade, a bubble visor gives wind protection, and the Kylo dual visor system lets you swap visors quickly. If you ride in dust or at speed, go for a visor.

Then look at the shell. Fibreglass composite is the classic choice, ABS keeps costs down and weight low, and carbon fibre is the lightest. Finally, pick the finish: gloss shows off paint, matt hides fingerprints and dust.

Riders often search for Axor half face helmets when they mean this style. Strictly, a half face helmet covers less of the head and usually has no visor, while the helmets on this page cover down to the ears and most have a peak or visor.

Be honest about where you ride. An open face helmet leaves your jaw uncovered, so it is a better match for city commuting and relaxed rides than for long highway runs. For that kind of riding, browse our wider range of open face helmets.

Certifications explained

ISI is the Indian standard, and it is what the law asks for on any two wheeler helmet sold in India. DOT FMVSS 218 is the US standard, and ECE 22.06 is the newest European one. The Retro Jet helmets here carry ISI and mostly DOT, while the Kylo helmets carry all three. Each product page lists exactly what that helmet has.

How to measure: wrap a tape around your head, one inch above your eyebrows, and read the number in centimetres. The helmet should sit snug and should not move when you shake your head. A loose helmet can come off in an impact.

Looking after your helmet

Wipe the shell with a soft cloth and mild soap, hand wash removable liners, and keep the visor away from rough sponges. The helmet maintenance guide has the full routine.

Frequently asked questions

Q1: Which Axor open face helmet should I buy?

A1: Pick by how you ride and what you want on the front. A peak gives shade, a bubble visor gives wind and dust protection, and the Kylo dual visor system lets you swap visors quickly. Choose carbon fibre if weight matters most, or a leather trimmed Retro Jet for the classic look.

Q2: What is the difference between the Axor Retro Jet and the Axor Kylo?

A2: The Retro Jet series has a vintage jet shape with leather trims, peaks or bubble visors, in fibreglass, ABS or carbon fibre shells. The Kylo is more modern, with a built in spoiler, a dual visor system and a quick release visor, and it is certified to ECE 22.06 as well as ISI and DOT.

Q3: Are Axor open face helmets ISI certified?

A3: Yes. The helmets in this range carry ISI certification, and the Kylo helmets are certified to ISI, ECE 22.06 and DOT. Each product page lists the standards for that helmet.

Q4: What warranty do Axor open face helmets come with?

A4: Every Axor open face helmet we sell carries a one year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Q5: Does Axor make open face helmets for women?

A5: Yes. Axor's Retro Girls helmets are made for women riders, and several other Retro Jet designs are unisex and popular with women. Our riding gear for women page has matching jackets, gloves, pants and boots.

Q6: How do I find my helmet size?

A6: Measure around your head one inch above your eyebrows and match the number to the size chart on this page. Our helmet fitting guide explains how a helmet should feel when it fits.

Q7: Can I use an open face helmet on the highway?

A7: You can, but your face and jaw are exposed to wind, grit and insects. Open face helmets suit city and relaxed riding best. If you often ride fast or far, see our full range of motorcycle helmets.
