SMK Retro Jet Rebel Matt Helmet
The SMK Retro Jet Rebel Matt is an open face helmet with a matt finish, a flat finish and a goggle friendly design. It is certified to ISI, DOT and ECE 22.06.
Sizes S to XXL on two shell sizes, with a one year manufacturer warranty.
Rebels in leather jackets are a cliche for a reason. The SMK Retro Jet Rebel in a matt finish keeps the look low key and the comfort high, with a leather cushion inside.
It is part of the Retro Jet series, SMK's modern take on a timeless helmet. If you want a shinier shell, see the gloss Rebel. All models are on our SMK open face helmets page.
The Rebel graphic keeps things simple: broad tonal bands wrap around the visor pivot and sweep to the back, with the REBEL name set low on the side.
Who it suits
Take the visor off for goggles, or keep it on for wind protection. Either way, the helmet stays light at about 1,450 g on the smaller shell.
Matt and understated, the Rebel suits riders who prefer a quiet look over a loud one, on bikes that already have plenty of character.

Getting the fit right
Five sizes, S to XXL, on two shells. Smaller sizes get the M shell at about 1,450 g and larger ones get the L shell at about 1,550 g, within 50 g either way. The chart above shows head measurements for each. The helmet fitting guide explains how to test the fit once it is on.
Approvals
This helmet meets three standards: ISI, DOT and ECE 22.06. Check the label inside when it arrives. As with any open face helmet, the jaw is not covered, so it is best for commuting and relaxed rides.
Cleaning and care
Dab, do not scrub, when cleaning a matt shell, and leave the polish in the cupboard. Wipe the visor with a microfibre cloth. See the helmet maintenance guide for the full routine.
Warranty
The helmet comes with a one year manufacturer warranty.
Frequently asked questions
Q1: Is this a half face or an open face helmet?
A1: Open face. Riders often say half face for this style, but the helmet covers the ears and has no chin bar.
Q2: Is it goggle friendly?
A2: It is. The visor comes off, so goggles sit comfortably.
Q3: What do the two shell sizes mean?
A3: S and M are built on the M shell, and L, XL and XXL on the L shell. Choose the size that matches your head and the right shell comes with it.
Q4: What does it weigh?
A4: Around 1,450 g for sizes S and M and around 1,550 g for L, XL and XXL, within 50 g.
Q5: Is it a highway helmet?
A5: It is better suited to city and relaxed rides. On highways, your face is exposed to wind and debris.
