Quick Overview

The BluArmor C40 is a mesh helmet communicator for large groups, supporting up to 20 riders on RIDEGRID 2.0 with automatic switching to cloud-based eRIDEGRID. It includes crash detection, AmpVocal HD voice, True Bass Boost and up to 18 hours of audio and mesh battery.

BluArmor C40 Bluetooth Communicator

The BluArmor C40 is built for the group ride that keeps growing. It runs RIDEGRID 2.0, BluArmor's advanced mesh, for up to 20 riders, and BluArmor says it hands over to the cloud-based eRIDEGRID on its own when the group spreads past radio range, with no manual switching.

Between two riders you get 1.2 km in open line of sight, and usable range stretches as more riders join. Active Link Tracking keeps everyone on the network whether the group is riding tight or strung out along a highway.

On the audio side, the C40 uses Tuned by Blu hardware with premium transducers, AmpVocal for clearer voices, True Bass Boost and preset EQ settings, plus two-level noise reduction for wind. AUDIOWEAVE keeps music, calls and navigation prompts from talking over each other.

Group features go well beyond a basic chat. You can set up Chat Hub and Buddy Connect private groups, use hotline broadcast mode to speak to the whole group, and record mesh conversations to an action camera. Motion Sense crash detection with auto SOS is built in.

FAQs

Q: How many riders can connect on the BluArmor C40, and what is the range?

A: Up to 20 riders on RIDEGRID 2.0, with 1.2 km line-of-sight range between two riders. Usable range increases with each rider added, and eRIDEGRID removes the range ceiling by running over the cloud.

Q: Does the C40 fit my helmet?

A: It is designed for most full-face, modular and open-face helmets, and it mounts without permanent modification to the helmet. The slim housing sits flush against the shell. If you are unsure about your helmet's fit, our helmet fitting guide is a good place to start.

Q: How does crash detection work on the C40?

A: Motion Sense is calibrated for real riding conditions and tells a pothole or hard braking apart from an actual crash. On a real one, it triggers an auto SOS and notifies your emergency contact.

Q: What happens to my music and navigation when someone speaks?

A: AUDIOWEAVE layers the audio automatically. Music fades, the voice or prompt comes through, and the music returns afterwards.

Q: How long does the C40 battery last?

A: BluArmor rates it at 20 hours of audio playback and 18 hours of audio with mesh active. With MagDock 2.0 and auto deceleration alert in use, it is 16 hours. The brand quotes 16+ hours for mixed real-world riding.

Q: What is the difference between the BluArmor C40 and the C60?

A: Group size and recording. The C40 supports 20 riders on RIDEGRID 2.0 and records mesh conversations to an action camera. The BluArmor C60 has no rider limit on RIDEGRID 2.0 PRO, records to your phone or action camera, and adds Music Lounge, Private Call and 1-to-many music sharing.

Q: Can I record group conversations on the C40?

A: Yes, mesh conversation recording to an action camera is supported, which is handy if you film your rides and want the chatter on the audio track.
