Details

Sleek, smart and matt. The GTJ Libero in a matt finish gives you the open feel of a jet helmet with a subdued, modern look.

This is part of SMK's GTJ range for urban riders and tourers. If you want a glossy shell, see the gloss Libero. The full line is in our SMK GTJ helmets.

Flowing lines define the Libero: a broad band that curves from the front around the side, accompanied by fine parallel lines that echo its shape. The effect is smooth and unhurried.

Why riders pick it

The airflow design and the spectacle friendly padding make it a sensible pick for people who wear glasses or ride in warm weather.

For riders who wear glasses, ride with a headset or just want a light helmet, the Libero ticks a lot of everyday boxes in a modern, flat finish.

What you get

  • Long, wide, scratch resistant visor for a broad view of the road
  • Easyfit channels for glasses
  • Quick release chin strap with padding for comfort
  • Liner that comes out for washing, in breathable, hypoallergenic fabric that manages moisture
  • Top vents, channeled intakes and a rear exhaust keep air moving
  • Visor that comes off fast when you need a swap
  • Two shell sizes made from EIRT, an energy impact resistant thermoplastic
  • Built in pockets that hold headset speakers in place
  • Retractable inner sun visor that you can operate while riding

Fit and weight

Wondering how it will sit on your head? Sizes S and M use the smaller M shell at roughly 1,450 g, while L, XL and XXL use the L shell at roughly 1,550 g, within 50 g. Take your head measurement one inch above the eyebrows and compare it with the chart above. The helmet fitting guide explains how to test the fit once it is on.

Safety

You get three certifications in one helmet: ISI for India, DOT for the US and ECE 22.06 for Europe. Look for the labels inside when it arrives. Your jaw stays uncovered, as on any open face design, so it is aimed at city streets and easy weekend rides.

Looking after it

Greasy marks come off a matt shell best with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Avoid rubbing in circles, which can burnish the paint. Our helmet maintenance guide has the details.

Warranty

The helmet comes with a one year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently asked questions

Q1: Is it a half face helmet?

A1: It is an open face helmet. It covers your ears and the back of your head and has no chin bar, while a true half helmet covers only the top of the head.

Q2: Is it comfortable for people who wear glasses?

A2: It is designed for that, with easyfit channels that let spectacle arms slide in without pressing on your temples.

Q3: Does it have vents?

A3: Yes: channeled air intakes, top air vents and a hot air exhaust.

Q4: How heavy is it?

A4: About 1,450 g on the M shell and about 1,550 g on the L shell, give or take 50 g.

Q5: Is the liner removable?

A5: Yes, it comes out for washing. Use mild soap and let it dry away from direct sun.
