Axor Jet Carbon Fibre Open Face Helmet with Bubble Visor, Big Checks

Quick Overview

The Axor Jet Carbon Fibre Open Face Helmet with Bubble Visor, Big Checks, pairs a carbon fibre shell with a bubble visor, leather trims and a plush interior. It weighs up to 1,100 g.

ISI and DOT certified, sizes S to XL.

Most open face helmets rely on graphics. This one leans on its material. The shell is carbon fibre, in the Big Checks pattern, and the shape is a classic jet with a bubble visor on the front.

Carbon is the reason it weighs up to 1,100 g, noticeably lighter than a fibreglass helmet in the same shape. It is the premium pick in our Axor open face helmets.

Why carbon fibre matters

Carbon fibre has a high strength to weight ratio, so the shell can stay thin and light without giving up protection. On a long ride the difference shows up as less neck strain, particularly with the bubble visor catching wind at speed.

Standards and testing

The helmet is ISI certified and tested to DOT FMVSS 218. Testing covers energy attenuation, penetration resistance, chin strap structural integrity, surface projection, rigidity, tensile strength and chin strap micro slip. Each one runs in hot, cold, submerged and ambient conditions.

Fit

Sizes run from S to XL. Measure one inch above the eyebrows and compare with the chart above. The outer shell stays the same across sizes while the inner padding changes, so a good fit depends on picking the right size. Our helmet fitting guide explains how.

Care

Clean the shell with diluted mild soap and a soft cloth. Wipe the visor gently to avoid scratches, and hand wash the liner. See the helmet maintenance guide for the full routine.

Warranty

The helmet comes with a one year warranty against manufacturing defects. For a similar carbon helmet with a different shell texture, see the Axor Jet Forged Carbon helmet.

Frequently asked questions

Q1: What does Big Checks mean on this helmet?

A1: It is the pattern name for this version of the carbon helmet. The shape, bubble visor and construction are the same classic jet design.

Q2: Is this helmet really carbon fibre?

A2: Yes. The shell is carbon fibre, which is why it weighs up to 1,100 g.

Q3: Does the bubble visor come fitted?

A3: Yes, the bubble visor is part of the helmet. Spare visors are sold separately.

Q4: Is it a good helmet for the highway?

A4: It is lighter and more stable than most open face helmets, but your face is still exposed. For long, fast rides a full face helmet protects better.
