BMW just launched the updated BS6 F 900 R and F 900 XR in India. The F 900 R is a naked roadster while the 900 XR is an adventure sports tourer and is available in two variants.
The F 900 R will cost Rs.9.9 lakh while F 900 XR is priced at Rs.10.5 lakh. There is also a third pro variant of the F 900 XR which will cost RS.11.5 lakh. Both of these models were unveiled at EICMA 2019.
With the launch of these bikes BMW joins the list of automotive manufacturers rolling out BS6 bikes. Both the bikes will come to India via CBU (completely built-up) route. Bookings now are open as well.
In terms of design, BMW F 900 R gets aggressive design tenet which is highlighted by a compact LED headlamp with DRL, muscular fuel tank, sharp side panels. With the help of wide handlebars it gets a slightly committed riding stance. On the other hand the F 900 XR shares its design elements with the S 1000 XR with its twin LED headlamp set up with DRLs. Both the F 900 motorcycles get plastic-welded fuel tanks to reduce weight and improve agility.
Both the models get 6.5-inch TFT instrument panel smartphone connectivity for telephony, music, and turn-by-turn navigation. Other features on F 900 twins include two riding modes (Rain and Road) and ASC (automatic stability control). Additionally, the F 900 XR gets adaptive cornering light, key-less ride, and intelligent emergency call as standard while F 900 XR Pro variant also gets cruise control.
At its center is a 895 cc twin-cylinder engine that puts out 103 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 92 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This engine is coupled to a six-speed transmission with anti-hopping wet clutch but F 900 XR Pro also gets BMW Gear Shift Assist.
As for the Suspension duties, it is handled by a 43 mm inverted forks with 132 mm front wheel travel and mono shock with 142 mm rear wheel travel for the F 900 R. While the F 900 XR gets a gets longer travel suspension setup which includes 43 mm inverted forks with 170 mm front wheel travel and mono shock 172 mm rear wheel travel. The F900 XR Pro also gets BMW Dynamic electronic suspension adjustment system.
Braking is same on both the models, they get twin 320 mm front and single 265 mm disc brake with BMW Motorrad ABS.
