Aprilia had announced the RS250 SP at EICMA in November, 2019. The bike is built by Ohvale, but it does carry an Aprilia engine. Details are emerging that the new Aprilia RS250 SP will cost 9,700 Euros (RS.8,00,000) in its Italian home market, which is quite a lot of money for a quarter litre bike.

The RS250 name carries a lot of street cred. It originally was sold with a two-stroke engine from 1995 to 2002. The new RS250 SP comes with a four-stroke motor.

The bike will come with premium components such as brakes with Brembo callipers, Ohlins suspension, loud exhaust from SC-Project, and 17-inch Marchesini wheels with Pirelli tyres. The single-cylinder engine is only rated for 28 horsepower, but with a claimed weight of 105 kg, this machine should still be wicked in the corners.

Though targeted at youths, it is highly unlikely that this bike will come to India, being a track-only race bike. As for the Indian market we will receive the Aprilia GPR 250 which was recently launched in China.

Powering the India-bound GPR 250 is a 249.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that is capable to generate a maximum power of 26.5HP @ 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 22Nm @ 7500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The Aprilia GPR 250 is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of around INR 2.20 lakh.
